The wedding of Brahmani Reddy, daughter of mining magnate and former Karnataka minister G. Janardhana Reddy, to Rajiv Reddy, son of Hyderabad businessman Vikram Deva Reddy, has become one of India’s most opulent ceremonies. With an estimated total cost of Rs 500 crore, this wedding has set new benchmarks for grandeur and extravagance.
Janardhana Reddy spared no expense to ensure that his daughter’s wedding was a celebration to remember. The five-day affair saw a staggering 50,000 guests, treated to an unparalleled showcase of luxury. Central to this splendor was Brahmani Reddy’s wedding attire—a stunning red Kanjeevaram saree intricately woven with gold threadwork, designed by the renowned Neeta Lulla. The saree, valued at an astonishing Rs 17 crore, embodied the perfect blend of tradition and opulence.
Brahmani’s bridal jewellery was equally mesmerizing. She donned a diamond choker necklace worth Rs 25 crore, and her entire collection of bridal jewellery, including hair accessories, maang tikka, and the panchdala, was estimated to be worth Rs 90 crore. These pieces added to the overall aura of magnificence surrounding the bride.
The Reddy family’s commitment to their guests’ comfort was evident in every detail. Janardhana Reddy booked 1,500 rooms in five- and three-star hotels across Bangalore to ensure a luxurious stay for the attendees. This extraordinary effort underscored their dedication to providing a sumptuous and memorable experience for everyone involved.
The wedding venue itself was a marvel of artistic and architectural brilliance. Designed by Bollywood’s top art directors, it recreated the ruins of the historic Vijayanagar Empire’s capital, Hampi. The site featured stunning replicas of the Vijaya Vittala Temple, Lotus Mahal, Mahanavami Dibba, and King Krishnadevaraya’s palace, offering guests a journey through time to the grandeur of ancient India. The dining area, reminiscent of a quaint Bellary village, provided a unique and immersive cultural experience.
To ensure the seamless transport of guests around the expansive venue, 40 royal chariots were employed. Additionally, 2,000 taxis and 15 helicopters were on standby to ferry guests to and from the event, highlighting the meticulous planning that went into every aspect of the celebration.
The culinary offerings at the wedding were as lavish as the decor. Guests were treated to a royal platter that included sixteen exquisite candies, reflecting the Reddy family’s dedication to providing a feast that matched the opulence of the occasion.
Months before the wedding, guests received an invitation that was itself a testament to the grandeur of the upcoming event. Costing Rs 5 crore, the invitation featured an LCD screen playing a choreographed family dance. It also included a silver idol of Ganesha, setting the tone for the extraordinary festivities to come.
Brahmani Reddy’s wedding to Rajiv Reddy has undoubtedly set a new precedent for lavish celebrations in India. From the luxurious bridal attire and jewellery to the extravagant venue and meticulous hospitality, every detail was executed with unparalleled grandeur. This Rs 500 crore wedding will be remembered as one of the most spectacular and opulent events in Indian history.
