Tech giant Google has launched its Gemini AI assistant app in the Indian market, marking a significant advancement in conversational AI technology. Led by CEO Sundar Pichai, Google aims to empower users with enhanced features that facilitate intuitive interaction through voice, text, and image inputs.
The Gemini app allows users to receive assistance by typing, speaking, or uploading images, catering to diverse needs such as tutorials for tasks like changing a flat tire or crafting personalized notes. Google emphasizes that Gemini represents a stride towards building a truly conversational and multimodal AI assistant.
Notably, Google has introduced Gemini Advanced alongside the standard app, providing access to its most advanced AI models. This version supports nine Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Additionally, nine local languages will integrate into Gemini Advanced, expanding accessibility and utility across India.
New features in Gemini Advanced include robust data analysis capabilities, enabling users to upload and analyze large documents up to 1,500 pages or summarize extensive email threads. Users can also upload spreadsheets for Gemini Advanced to clean, explore, analyze, and visualize data into interactive charts and graphs.
The Gemini app has not only debuted in India but also in Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Android users can download the app directly or access it via Google Assistant through various prompts. An overlay experience provides seamless access to Gemini, enhancing user productivity with features like setting timers, making calls, and setting reminders.
For iOS users, access to Gemini will roll out gradually through the Google app, offering a toggle for starting conversations and boosting productivity and creativity. Google assures users that uploaded files remain private and are not used for training AI models, ensuring robust privacy protection.
