Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister for an unprecedented third term, matching the record set by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, for three consecutive victories.
The steps of the Rashtrapati Bhavan were adorned with honour guards as thousands gathered to witness PM Modi, clad in a white kurta and a blue waistcoat, take the oath of office.

Under PM Modi’s leadership, the new cabinet comprises 30 Cabinet Ministers, 5 Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State.
In this year’s election, PM Modi’s BJP secured 240 seats, falling short of a majority in the 543-member lower house. However, with the support of allies, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) clinched a total of 293 seats, surpassing the 272-majority threshold.
