One of the most pressing safety concerns for children is water safety. Drowning remains the leading cause of unintentional death among young children worldwide. In response to this issue, innovative solutions like anti-drowning fabrics have been developed to improve aquatic safety for children. The anti-drowning T-shirt features an automatic triggering system, an inflatable lung, and anti-UV protection. The product is UPF50+ anti-UV certified and OEKO-TEX standard 100 certified, ensuring optimal skin protection and the absence of harmful substances. The T-shirt appears as a regular garment most of the time but transforms into a life-saving device when needed. Upon accidental water immersion, the T-shirt inflates in less than 3 seconds, providing a complete rollover in under 5 seconds, regardless of the child’s position in the water, even if unconscious. The life jacket reverts to normal once removed from the water.
The trigger system connected to the inflatable lung comprises:
- A soluble detector that activates upon detecting water.
- A trigger attached to the lung that opens the gas cartridge.
- A gas cartridge that inflates the lung via the trigger.
The inflatable lung is lightweight and invisible when dry, integrated into the textile part of the T-shirt, and connected to the automatic trigger system.
