Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state, is set to further enhance its connectivity with the addition of the Faridabad-Jewar Expressway. This new infrastructure project promises to significantly reduce travel time and distance, boosting economic activity and connectivity in the region.
Currently under construction, the Faridabad-Jewar Expressway will slash the distance between Faridabad and Jewar Airport from 90 kilometers to just 31 kilometers. Consequently, the travel time will be reduced from the current 2-3 hours to a mere 15 minutes, providing a substantial improvement for commuters.
Construction of the expressway began in June of last year, with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) targeting completion by June 2025. The project will establish direct connectivity between Faridabad Sector 65 and Jewar Airport, benefiting travelers from Gurugram and other districts in Haryana.
The expressway will intersect several major highways, including the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) or Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) or Western Peripheral Expressway. This strategic positioning will enhance transportation efficiency across the National Capital Region (NCR).
In addition to facilitating quicker travel, the expressway is expected to stimulate economic activities in the NCR region. It will accelerate industrial and commercial projects, fostering development in both Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The 31-kilometer expressway will connect villages in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh (Vallabhnagar, Ampur, and Jhupa), with those in Haryana (Bahupur, Kala, Mohana, and Narhawali), leading to Faridabad. The construction cost is estimated at around ₹2,414 crore.
Faridabad will benefit from direct connectivity to Jewar Airport, while Gurugram will also gain seamless access, further enhancing overall transportation efficiency. This development is anticipated to bolster the economic landscape, making the NCR region more accessible and economically vibrant.
With its completion, the Faridabad-Jewar Expressway is set to become a crucial artery in Uttar Pradesh’s expanding network of expressways, underscoring the state’s commitment to improving infrastructure and fostering regional growth.
