The educational landscape of Bihar, once renowned for its historical universities like Nalanda and Vikramshila, is witnessing a remarkable resurgence. While the state has been home to prestigious institutions such as Science College and BN College, the quality of higher education dwindled over time. However, recent years have seen a significant turnaround, with private universities stepping up to restore Bihar’s reputation as an educational powerhouse.
One of the leading examples of this revival is Gopal Narayan Singh University (GNSU) based in Sasaram. Graduates from GNSU are now holding esteemed positions in multinational companies such as Amazon, Flipkart, and HDFC Bank. Snigdha Tripathi, a Process Associate at Amazon, shared her experience with India Today, saying, “GNS University broadens your horizons and enhances every experience here; you will always find support in advancing your career path.”
Shubham Kumar, a Deputy Manager at HDFC Bank, is another successful alumnus of GNSU. The university offers world-class education across a wide range of fields, including Medical and Para-Medical sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, Agricultural Science, Law, Journalism and Mass Communication, Information Technology, Commerce, Library Science, and Management. GNSU has also forged partnerships with global institutions to bring cutting-edge research facilities to Bihar, as evidenced by numerous Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) they have signed.
Trivikram Narayan Singh, the Managing Director of Gopal Narayan Singh University, reflects on Bihar’s storied past: “Bihar was once a global educational hub. People from distant lands journeyed to learn at Nalanda University and Vikramshila University. Education was synonymous with Bihar. Even now, students from Bihar shine in all spheres but sadly they are frequently compelled to migrate to metropolitan cities such as Delhi and Mumbai for their studies. Our goal has forever been to bring top-notch education right here in Bihar; the university pledges its commitment towards achieving this goal.”
In addition to academic excellence, GNSU is addressing Bihar’s unemployment issue by promoting entrepreneurial ventures. The university has established an incubation centre to support startups, providing training, advice, and resources necessary for transforming fledgling businesses into large enterprises.
With these initiatives, GNSU and other private universities are not only enhancing the quality of education in Bihar but also contributing to the state’s socio-economic development. As Bihar regains its status as an education hub, it is poised to once again become a beacon of learning and innovation on the global stage.
