Kareena Kapoor Khan recently joined her mother-in-law, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, for a new advertisement shoot at the iconic Pataudi Palace in Haryana. This majestic property, built in 1935 by the last Nawab of Pataudi, Iftikhar Ali Khan, has been the backdrop for numerous Bollywood films and projects over the years, including Animal, Rang De Basanti, and Veer Zara.
A Tale of Heritage and Legacy
Following the passing of Saif Ali Khan’s father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the palace was leased to Neemrana Hotels from 2005 to 2014. It was during this time that the property underwent a transformation into a luxury hotel under the ownership of Francis Wacziarg and Aman Nath. However, Saif Ali Khan later reclaimed possession of the palace in 2014 after a substantial financial arrangement.
Reimagining Opulence: Saif Ali Khan’s Vision
Originally designed by British architect Robert Tor Russell with assistance from Austrian architect Karl Moltz von Heinz, the Pataudi Palace underwent significant renovations under Saif Ali Khan’s stewardship. Renowned interior architect Darshini Shah was enlisted to enhance the palace’s interiors, infusing modern luxury while preserving its historic charm.
A Glimpse into Grandeur: The Magnificent Estate
Nestled on a sprawling 10-acre estate, Pataudi Palace boasts an array of opulent amenities, including 150 rooms, a billiard room, multiple dressing rooms, expansive dining areas, and a picturesque outdoor pool. The property also features a dedicated farming area and versatile multipurpose rooms, embodying the epitome of regal living.
A Royal Retreat: Khan Family Getaways
While Saif Ali Khan and his family primarily reside in Mumbai, Pataudi Palace serves as a cherished retreat for them to unwind and reconnect with their heritage. Away from the bustling city life, the palace offers a serene sanctuary where the Khans can celebrate special occasions and create lasting memories in a setting of unparalleled luxury and elegance.
