The Ministry of Transport has announced its plans to introduce electric air taxi services and electric delivery planes by early 2025. The ministry confirmed it has applied for all necessary approvals from relevant authorities in Qatar to begin testing these innovative transport solutions.
In a recent statement, the ministry highlighted that the adoption of air taxis and electric delivery planes aligns with global advancements in the transportation sector. These initiatives are set to enhance Qatar’s transportation landscape by introducing a new, sustainable mode of mobility.
The air taxi services will incorporate the latest global technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to improve the integration, coherence, sustainability, and eco-friendliness of Qatar’s public transit system.
“For the ministry, achieving the goals of the Third Qatar National Development Strategy (NDS3) is also front and center,” the statement noted. The introduction of air taxi services is part of the ministry’s broader efforts to fulfill the objectives of NDS3, which emphasizes integrating cutting-edge technologies and promoting sustainable development and economic diversification.
This move aims to strengthen Qatar’s position in the global transportation sector, contributing to the realization of the Qatar National Vision 2030 pillars.
