Saudi Arabia has set its sights on India, aiming to establish it as its primary source market for tourism. The Kingdom is ambitious, with plans to attract 7.5 million Indian visitors over the next seven years. This strategic move underscores the growing relationship between the two nations, particularly in the tourism sector.
Strengthening Ties:
In an effort to bolster ties with India, the Saudi Tourism Authority organized networking events across key Indian cities such as Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Delhi. These events served as platforms for engaging with travel trade associations and fostering collaboration within the industry.
Growing Tourism:
The efforts seem to be paying off, as evidenced by a significant uptick in Indian tourist arrivals to Saudi Arabia. In 2023, there was a remarkable 50% increase in the number of Indian tourists compared to the previous year, totaling 1.5 million visitors. This surge has been supported by a 31% rise in air connectivity between the two countries from 2019 to 2023, with flights now linking 12 major Indian hubs to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
Streamlined Processes:
To further facilitate travel, the Saudi Tourism Authority has streamlined the visa process for Indian travelers. This includes offering options such as e-visas and visa-on-arrival, simplifying the journey and encouraging more Indians to explore Saudi Arabia’s diverse offerings.
