On April 7th each year, the world commemorates World Health Day to spotlight global health concerns and advocate for universal health coverage. ‘My Health, My Right’ theme of World Health Day 2024 which focuses on the fundamental human right: access to quality health care, education and information. In India, the healthcare sector has seen remarkable growth over the last decade, largely due to the rise of innovative healthtech startups. These startups have revolutionized healthcare delivery, offering solutions like affordable insurance, virtual doctor consultations, and cutting-edge treatments.

As we mark World Health Day, it’s evident that the future of healthcare holds immense promise and potential. With over 4800 startups operating in the health tech sector in India, the question arises: What room is there for more health-tech companies in the future? While various departments of medical science garner attention, let’s focus on dental care this time. Denta Mitra stands out as an initiative providing quality dental care that is both accessible and convenient. Their innovative approach includes the “Suitcase Clinic”, a portable setup that can be deployed quickly and easily in any space, making dental care more accessible than ever before. Denta Mitra claims to be India’s first suitcase clinic, showcasing their commitment to innovation and accessibility in healthcare.

Founded in 2020 by close friends Satyajeet Pradhan and Dr. Pranjan Mitra, Denta Mitra initially began with AI-driven self-diagnosis and virtual consultations before transitioning to offering doorstep dental services. Operating as a digital dentist, Denta Mitra aims to ensure oral healthcare is easily accessible to all. Their services encompass a wide range of dental procedures, from routine check-ups and cleanings to more intricate treatments. Additionally, Denta Mitra actively promotes oral health awareness through educational resources. Leveraging a mobile app platform, the company facilitates seamless appointment scheduling and service access for users.

In a noteworthy development, Denta Mitra has earned recognition as one of the “75 Innovative Startups” by Startup India, affirming its leadership in the on-demand dental services sector. This milestone establishes Denta Mitra as the first dental startup to receive such accolades. The company has garnered support from esteemed organizations like India Accelerator, the Indian Dental Association (IDA), and the National Organization of Dental Surgeons (NODS).

As of now, Denta Mitra boasts serving over 17,000 patients, with a notable surge in the utilization of doorstep services, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas, where it boasts a utilization rate of 75%. Currently, their doorstep services are accessible in Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, select cities in Punjab, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, and surrounding regions. Additionally, renowned Bollywood actor Mr. Suniel Shetty has expressed interest in this pioneering dental care startup.
