In the heart of Barsha Heights, the courtyard of Hamel Al Ghaith Mosque has become a hub of activity over the past three days, as more than 2,000 iftar packets are distributed daily to residents of Dubai, irrespective of their faith.
A Taste of Tradition and Generosity
The iftar boxes are a delightful blend of flavours and nutrients, featuring fresh salads, fruits, mandi (a traditional rice dish with meat), and nutrient-rich beans, accompanied by a delectable dessert to satisfy every palate. Dates and water are provided to break the fast, along with a refreshing serving of laban, a soothing yoghourt drink, completing the meal.
Volunteers emphasize that the meals are not exclusive to Muslims; people of all faiths are warmly welcomed to partake in the communal iftar. Meals are prepared in a central kitchen, packed, and transported to the mosque courtyard, where they are arranged for everyone to share in the breaking of the fast.
Noble Initiative and Diverse Activities
Organized by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in collaboration with the Community Development Authority (CDA), the initiative aims to promote inclusivity and community cohesion during Ramadan. Activities ranging from sports events to children’s craft sessions cater to diverse interests, fostering engagement and connection among residents.
As the campaign progresses, attention shifts to extending iftar meal distribution to the Remraam community over the upcoming weekend. This outreach underscores the commitment to inclusivity and outreach across Dubai’s diverse neighbourhoods.
Reflecting and Connecting Spiritually
Alongside the communal iftar, religious lectures in English provide opportunities for spiritual reflection, enriching the Ramadan experience for participants seeking deeper connection and understanding.
In essence, Dubai’s Ramadan campaign exemplifies the city’s commitment to fostering unity, inclusivity, and shared experiences, embodying the spirit of generosity and community during this sacred month.
