NHAI Advisory: Switch Paytm FASTag by March 15 to Avoid Penalties and Ensure Seamless Highway Travel

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a crucial advisory to Paytm FASTag users, urging them to obtain a new FASTag from an alternative authorised issuing authority or bank before March 15. The advisory aims to facilitate a hassle-free travel experience and prevent potential inconvenience at toll plazas.

Avoid Penalties and Double Fee Charges

NHAI emphasised that transitioning to a different FASTag provider before the deadline is essential to evade penalties and avoid double fee charges while navigating through the national highways. The move aligns with NHAI’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and convenience for highway travellers.

Implications of RBI Guidelines

Citing guidelines from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) pertaining to restrictions on Paytm Payments Bank, NHAI highlighted that Paytm FASTag users will no longer have the option to recharge or top up their balances after March 15, 2024. However, users can continue utilising their existing balances to pay tolls post-deadline.

Guidance for Users

NHAI advised Paytm FASTag users to promptly reach out to their respective banks or refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section on the Indian Highway Management Company Limited (IHMCL) website for further clarification and assistance.

Ensuring Seamless Travel Experience

NHAI reiterated its call for all Paytm FASTag users to proactively take necessary measures to ensure a smooth travel experience on the National Highways across the country. By adhering to the advisory and transitioning to a different FASTag issuer before March 15, users can circumvent potential disruptions and contribute to the efficient functioning of the toll collection system.

As the deadline approaches, NHAI underscores the importance of timely action by Paytm FASTag users to avoid any inconvenience during their highway journeys. By heeding the advisory and making the necessary switch to an authorised FASTag issuing authority or bank, travellers can help streamline toll transactions and uphold the seamless flow of traffic on India’s extensive network of national highways.
