Dubai is once again the center of attention for luxury enthusiasts and collectors as global collector car auction company RM Sotheby’s hosts a prestigious auction featuring an array of suave supercars, unique watches, and limited-edition memorabilia. Taking place today, Friday, the auction promises to showcase 24 unique and highly valuable cars, with prices ranging from Dh300,000 to Dh12 million.
Leading up to the auction, all the exquisite items were proudly displayed at the AlSerkal Avenue, offering the general public a rare opportunity to marvel at these remarkable pieces.
Among the highlights is a 2018 open-top off-roader, one of only 99 ever produced. Featuring a “Landaulet”-style retractable roof, this boxy vehicle has evolved into an aspirational status symbol. With a mere 2,069 kilometers on the odometer, bidding for this exclusive piece starts at $700,000.
Another gem is the celebrated 1980s performance hatchback, the Renault 5 Turbo 2, boasting a top speed of 200kmph. Having traversed through various US cities before arriving in the UAE in 2015, this iconic vehicle kicks off bidding at Dh350,000.
In addition to the supercars, a line of children’s cars adorned with glitzy designs is also up for grabs. Featuring 100,000 hand-set Swarovski Xirius-cut crystals against a 24-carat gold-plated hue, these miniature marvels are expected to fetch at least Dh80,000 each.
Among the standout pieces is a rare Fiat Jolly designed by the renowned Italian automobile design firm Carrozzeria Ghia. Adorned with vibrant red paintwork, wicker seats, and a canvas roof, it captured the attention of many at the exhibition, with enthusiasts lining up to snap a selfie with it.
Adding a touch of elegance is a desk clock modeled with the radiator grille of a Rolls-Royce car, crafted in 1950. Featuring the iconic ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ mascot as its crown, this unique timepiece is anticipated to sell for approximately Dh20,000.
Car enthusiasts will be captivated by a Formula 1-inspired road-legal race car, one of only 150 ever produced. Born from a collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing, this stylish vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, with a base price of Dh10 million.
For collectors seeking exclusivity, a rare version of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, one of only 75 ever made, is expected to fetch more than Dh12 million. Inspired by British F1 racer Sir Stirling Moss’ car that triumphed in the 1955 Mille Miglia, this vehicle exudes unparalleled elegance and prestige.
In addition to the remarkable cars, the auction offers a chance for petrolheads to acquire Formula 1 memorabilia, including a Scuderia Ferrari racing suit worn by Michael Schumacher during the 1999 French Grand Prix weekend, and a replica of the late F1 race Ayrton Senna’s helmet.
With luxury and rarity on display, the RM Sotheby’s auction in Dubai promises an unforgettable experience for collectors and enthusiasts alike, showcasing some of the most coveted treasures in the world of automobiles and memorabilia.
