To capitalise on the burgeoning interest of Indian travellers in spiritual and leisure journeys, Riyadh, represented by Alhasan Aldabbagh, President – Asia Pacific, Saudi Tourism Authority, unveiled plans to attract a staggering 7.5 million Indian tourists by 2030. This announcement was made amidst the grandeur of the SATTE 2024 travel show, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s commitment to tap into the vast Indian market for tourism.

Promoting Growth and Celebrating Milestones

During Saudi Arabia’s third appearance at SATTE, Aldabbagh seized the opportunity to commemorate the country’s founding day, marking three centuries since its establishment. Amidst the celebratory atmosphere, he emphasised India’s pivotal role as a key market, noting a remarkable 50% surge in Indian visitors to Saudi Arabia over the past year and outlining strategies to realise the ambitious 2030 vision.

Streamlining Access and Visa Facilitation

Speaking with ANI, Aldabbagh expressed Saudi Arabia’s enthusiasm for SATTE, highlighting its significance as one of South Asia’s premier trade shows. Delving into Saudi’s efforts to enhance accessibility for Indian travellers, he mentioned the establishment of 10 VFS offices across India and plans for further expansion. Additionally, Aldabbagh unveiled a stopover program offering a 96-hour free visa for passengers travelling via Saudi Airlines or flynas, coupled with simplified visa procedures for individuals holding US, UK, or Schengen visas.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Future Engagements

Underpinning the enduring bond between India and Saudi Arabia, Aldabbagh emphasised the deep-rooted connections beyond tourism, spanning economic, social, and cultural realms. He expressed anticipation for forthcoming activities in India, poised to deepen bilateral relations and foster mutual growth.

Enduring Friendship Reflected at SATTE

India and Saudi Arabia’s long standing friendship, rooted in centuries-old economic and socio-cultural ties, found further resonance at SATTE. The event, known as South Asia’s Travel and Tourism Exchange, serves as a pivotal platform for industry professionals, showcasing the collaborative efforts of domestic and international stakeholders, including National and State Tourism Boards, to promote tourism and hospitality sectors.

SATTE, endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and supported by various tourism boards, trade associations, and organisations, remains a vital catalyst for fostering partnerships and collaborations within the global travel and tourism community, as highlighted on SATTE’s official website.
