India is poised to achieve remarkable economic growth, potentially reaching a $10 trillion economy and securing the third-largest global economy position in the near future, according to World Economic Forum President Borge Brende. Brende expressed admiration for India’s unique sense of optimism amid a world marked by fragmentation and polarization.

In an exclusive interview with PTI, Brende highlighted India’s status as the fastest-growing economy among major global players. He emphasized the substantial interest in India showcased at the recent Davos meeting and expressed the WEF’s intention to host the WEF India Summit in partnership with the Indian government when the timing is appropriate.

Brende praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frequent participation in Davos, emphasizing India’s positive outlook in contrast to global geopolitical challenges. He commended India’s consistent economic growth, notably its 7% expansion, positioning it favorably alongside other leading economies such as the United States.

Regarding India’s ambition to become the world’s third-largest economy, Brende underscored the nation’s progress in implementing significant reforms and attracting foreign direct investment. He highlighted India’s growing digital competitiveness and predicted its inevitable ascent to the top three global economies alongside the US and China.

Brende also recognized India’s evolving role in managing geopolitical tensions, foreseeing a greater Indian presence on the global diplomatic stage. He praised India’s focus on economic development, poverty eradication, and overall prosperity, noting its measured approach to regional conflicts compared to other volatile regions like Ukraine and the Middle East.
