Meenakshi Das, a 41-year-old rider from India’s remote northeast, has embarked on a groundbreaking journey to solo ride across 67 countries. Leaving her hometown in Guwahati, Assam, on December 18, she has already covered Nepal and Mumbai, now set to conquer the roads in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and beyond. Riding a Bajaj Dominar 400, Meenakshi aspires to etch her name in history as the first Indian, regardless of gender, to complete a solo ride across more than 60 countries.
Challenges and Triumphs
Undeterred by challenges, Meenakshi faces the road with determination. Despite the lack of sponsors, she carries only essentials, relying on her indomitable spirit. Knocking on government doors in Assam for support yielded empty promises, yet Meenakshi remains unswayed, ready to set an example for others. Her husband, Bedanta Rajkhowa, a biker and martial artist, supports her endeavours, emphasising the strength found in unity.
Dubai’s Warm Embrace
Meenakshi finds solace in the support of Dubai’s Assamese community, providing her with a place to stay. Touched by the encouragement from Dubai’s diverse riders’ community, including Europeans, she acknowledges the heartwarming gestures. As a travel vlogger, Meenakshi shares her journey with over 26,000 followers, aiming not only to promote her country and region but also to showcase the diverse cultures she encounters.
Promoting Tolerance and Independence
While promoting the beauty of Dubai, Meenakshi plans to highlight the cultural tolerance exemplified by a place in Jebel Ali, featuring mosques, churches, and a Hindu temple in the same vicinity. Her journey is not only about personal triumph but also a celebration of diversity and maturity in every country she explores.
Inspiring Independence
Despite missing her 14-year-old daughter, Meenakshi believes her journey will inspire strength and independence. Through tears at the sight of Dubai’s Blue Waters island, she envisions returning with a story that encourages her daughter to embrace bravery and independence.
