Foxconn’s CEO and Chairman, Young Liu, was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan by the country in recognition of his contributions to the global business landscape. A total of 132 individuals received Padma awards this time around, acknowledging their remarkable achievements and activities in various fields.
Foxconn, operating from its headquarters in Taiwan, is a leading company in the global semiconductor manufacturing sector. With Young Liu at the helm, the company has been thriving as a net profit entity for the past four years, with 66,000 employees worldwide.
Aligned with the official website of Foxconn, Young Liu leads the company’s global operations. He oversees activities spanning across 24 countries, impacting 1 million livelihoods. In 2021, Foxconn reported an annual revenue of $206 billion.
Foxconn began its journey into the business realm by establishing Young Micro Systems, a company manufacturing computer motherboards, in Taiwan in 1988. It later expanded its operations with the establishment of IC Design in 1995 and EDSEL IC Design in 1997. In 1994, Foxconn commenced its collaboration with Foxconn Micro Systems.
Renowned for its production of Apple iPhones on a global scale, Foxconn has significant plans to expand its operations in India. The company aims to create employment opportunities for 40,000 individuals in Tamil Nadu and aims to invest $1.6 billion in India over the coming years.
