In commemoration of its 25th anniversary, Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), Asia’s pioneer listed depository, revealed two groundbreaking initiatives aimed at fostering inclusivity and accessibility in the capital market landscape. The initiatives were launched by Madhabi Puri Buch, Chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), during the silver jubilee function held on January 17.
CDSL introduced a revolutionary enhancement to the Investor Consolidated Account Statement (CAS), allowing investors to receive statements in their preferred language from a selection of 23 diverse Indian languages. Titled ‘Apka CAS – Apki Zubaani,’ this initiative is designed to provide investors with easier accessibility, offering a consolidated view of their demat account securities in a language of their choice.
To further simplify investors’ journeys towards self-sufficiency, CDSL launched a unique multi-lingual chatbot named ‘CDSL Buddy Sahayta 24*7’ on its website. Initially supporting four languages, the chatbot offers round-the-clock assistance, becoming a constant companion for investors navigating the complexities of the securities markets.
In addition to these investor-centric initiatives, CDSL showcased its commitment to deepening market awareness in the critical areas of cybersecurity and financial literacy. The unveiling of a Thought Leadership Report on ‘Reimagine Digital Trust in Capital Markets’ took center stage. Prepared in collaboration with knowledge partners KPMG, the report drew insights from CDSL’s recent Cyber Security Symposium, emphasizing the importance of digital trust, global financial interconnectedness, and resilience against emerging cyber threats.
Further underscoring its dedication to financial literacy, CDSL successfully concluded the ‘Neev’ campaign, a 25-city pan-India financial literacy initiative. This campaign, an integral part of CDSL’s 25th-anniversary celebrations, reached diverse communities, including armed forces and rural areas. It exemplified CDSL’s commitment to spreading financial literacy awareness across the length and breadth of the country.
These initiatives not only mark a significant milestone in CDSL’s journey but also reinforce its position as a trailblazer in fostering inclusivity and awareness within the Indian capital market.
