Indian Railways has announced plans to introduce 60 new Vande Bharat Express trains this year, with launches scheduled in 14 states and two central administrative regions. This initiative follows last year’s introduction of 34 Vande Bharat trains.
The railway aims to deploy a total of 70 Vande Bharat trains on tracks this year, with a specific target of unveiling 60 of them by November 15. Discussions are underway regarding the routes to be covered by these services, with state governments and independent consultants collaborating with Indian Railways to finalize decisions.
The decision to initiate Vande Bharat services has prompted discussions among railway officials and state governments, with the goal of establishing routes that were not previously served. Indian Railways and the respective state governments have held discussions on 35 routes, and plans are underway to extend this number to 50.
Chief Passenger Transportation Manager of Indian Railways and the Ministry of Railways have expressed the need to identify and finalize routes for the upcoming Vande Bharat services. As the launch date approaches, the railways will focus on replacing old tracks and establishing new ones to accommodate the growing network.
The launch of Vande Bharat Express services is seen as a strategic move to enhance passenger connectivity and modernize the rail network in India. The railway authorities are working diligently to achieve the set target of launching 60 new Vande Bharat Express trains by the specified date.
