A healthcare group based in the UAE is encouraging parents of children in need of free heart surgeries to apply under the “Golden Heart” initiative, celebrating Indian businessman Yusuff Ali’s five decades in the country. Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, founder and chairman of Burjeel Holdings, and son-in-law of Yusuffali,
chairman of Lulu Group International, announced this initiative on New Year’s Day, a day after Yusuff Ali’s 50th anniversary in the UAE. Dr. Shamsheer, married to Dr. Shabeena Yusuffali, Yusuffali’s eldest daughter and vice chairperson of VPS Healthcare, is spearheading the philanthropic effort through his family office in VPS Healthcare. The “Golden Heart” initiative aims to provide free life-saving heart surgeries to fifty children from conflict zones and underprivileged backgrounds born with heart diseases, paying tribute to Yusuff Ali’s remarkable life and his steadfast commitment to philanthropy.
VPS Healthcare invited applications from parents of deserving children with congenital heart diseases.
“Parents are invited to submit their applications and the necessary documentation to [email protected],” the group said in a statement.
“The required documents include the child’s medical report and contact details. The surgeries will be conducted in specialised hospitals under the umbrella of Burjeel Holdings, spanning the UAE and Oman, as well as Dr Shamsheer’s hospitals in India,” it said.
The initiative reportedly seeks to assist individuals from conflict zones and underprivileged backgrounds, recognizing the financial difficulties confronted by numerous families managing these pressing health issues, it stated.
