In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable maritime transportation, India proudly welcomes the Barracuda, the nation’s fastest solar-electric boat. Launched at the Navgathi Panavally Yard, this cutting-edge vessel represents a significant leap in India’s commitment to green energy and sustainability.

Collaborative Innovation

Developed through a collaborative effort between Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd and Navalt, the Barracuda is a testament to the power of partnerships in driving transformative change in the maritime industry.

Unveiling the Barracuda

The launch ceremony, graced by key figures such as Shri. Sanjay Kumar Singh and Sandith Thandasherry, unveiled the Barracuda as a meticulously designed vessel by Navalt for workboat purposes. This 14-meter long and 4.4-meter wide marvel is poised to redefine maritime efficiency and cleanliness.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Equipped with twin 50 kW electric motors, a marine-grade LFP battery, and 6 kW solar power, the Barracuda boasts a top speed of 12 knots and a remarkable 7-hour range on a single charge. Its engineering prowess enables it to navigate through waves as high as 4 meters, setting a new standard for performance in challenging marine environments.

Eco-Friendly Journey

Certified under IRS and capable of accommodating 12 passengers, the Barracuda offers a noise-free, vibration-free, and pollution-free journey. This showcases Navalt’s expertise in solar-electric technology and its dedication to providing environmentally friendly alternatives for maritime transportation.

Saur Sakthi: A Green Initiative by Mazagon Dock

Mazagon Dock plans to introduce the Barracuda under the name Saur Sakthi at its Mumbai dock, marking a significant stride towards eco-friendly operations and emphasizing the vessel’s potential impact on the maritime sector.

A Vision for a Cleaner, Greener Future

Sandith Thandassery, CEO of Navalt, expressed pride in the Barracuda’s contribution to sustainable transportation. He emphasized the vessel’s role in advancing the nation’s journey towards cleaner, greener seas.

International Recognition

Navalt’s solar-powered electric boats have garnered international acclaim for their technological prowess and design excellence. Acknowledged as technology wonders, these boats significantly contribute to reducing the carbon footprint in maritime transportation.

Awards and Accolades

Navalt Solar and Electric Boats, operating from Kochi, have been honored with prestigious awards, including being named the World’s Best Start-up under the Mobility and Transportation category at the Berlin Start-up Energy Transition Awards 2023. The company’s commitment to decarbonizing the maritime sector is further exemplified by receiving the Gustave Trouve Awards twice.

The Barracuda’s maiden voyage symbolizes not only a technological triumph but also a crucial step towards a cleaner, quieter ocean. As Navalt continues to pioneer advancements in solar-electric technology, the Barracuda stands as a beacon of hope for a sustainable future in maritime transportation.
