During the Starship rocket launch, Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, reportedly ran into his father Errol Musk after a seven-year absence.
Elon met Errol while he was in Austin, Texas, to spend time with his kids, and Errol and his family witnessed the Starship launch with regional and foreign visitors last Saturday from a VIP platform.
“They talked for quite some time. Seeing this with our daughters made me feel really touched. We were at a loss for words,” Heide Musk, Errol’s ex-wife, said.
She added that after spending so much time together, the family was emotional. Errol was delighted to see Elon, and the son returned the sentiments. “The relatives wept. It was a somewhat sentimental read. Elon seemed thrilled to see his father, and Errol was overjoyed to see him as well. They sat down next to each other at Elon’s table right away and began conversing as if no time had passed,” Heide remarked.
The father-son team had previously met in 2016 for Errol’s 70th birthday celebration in Cape Town, South Africa. Despite their long history of disagreements, Errol and Elon Musk managed to set things aside during their meeting and conversation last Saturday, as per sources.
Now residing in South Africa, Errol revealed last year that he had fathered a second child with his ex-wife Heide’s 36-year-old daughter.
Also, in response to a question about his pride in his son, Elon, Errol reportedly stated, “One doesn’t go around saying, ‘I’m proud.”
“It’s one of the seven deadly sins. Instead, I would say I’m very thankful for Elon’s achievements and that he is okay and managing,” he further added.
