Titan, a watch and jewellery manufacturer, stated on Tuesday that it intends to recruit around 3,000 people over the next five years in order to achieve its goal of being an INR 1 lakh crore enterprise.
Titan said that it will be hiring at mid-to senior-level positions with a focus, looking for people with experience in a variety of fields, including digital, e-commerce, sales, design, and engineering. With a particular focus on innovation and technology, Titan intends to expand the proportion of staff members in engineering roles by 50% over the course of the next two to three years.
“Our aggressive hiring strategy reflects our dedication to hire a diverse and talented workforce. We believe that alongside growing our own people it also helps to bring in experts from various fields, young and experienced,” Priya Mathilakath Pillai, head, HR (corporate and retail), said Titan.
In addition to growing its collection of retail brands—which already includes Tanishq, Mia, Fastrack, Sonata, Eyeplus, Taneira, Skinn, and Caratlane—the company plans to put a lot of effort into growing Titan’s luxury business, according to an official release.
In order to boost the jewelry vertical, the company, which is still the nation’s top organized jewelry retailer, intends to open 150 new locations during the current fiscal year. Currently, the company claims to have over 750 jewelry stores across India.
Furthermore, to support regional employment, Pillai stated that the company would keep bolstering its presence in emerging markets and concentrating on local talent. At the moment, 60% of the company’s personnel is based in metro areas, and the remaining 40% in tier II and III cities.
In addition, Titan intends to grow its global presence in the Middle East and North America. Over the next five years, it will add 10% more employees internationally, with a particular emphasis on the GCC region, where 150–200 new jobs will be generated.
Titan will continue to hire talent from its campus, which is anticipated to account for 15–18% of all hiring annually.
Reports added, to help women re-enter the workforce and upskill, Titan is also coordinating its synergies. According to Pillai, the business has started a women-focused initiative called the “Return-ship Programme,” which enabled it to hire 40% more women than males in the first quarter of FY24.
