In the domain of endurance sports, ‘Ironman challenge’ is considered to be the toughest one. It’s not just challenging one’s physical prowess but also their mental resilience and determination. This year, Ghani Souleymane, a popular face within Dubai’s fitness community, is set to redefine the limits of human potential.
In this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge edition, an event that features an action-packed 30-day calendar of free fitness events, community hubs, classes, and activities, which will be running from October 28 to November 26, Souleymane, who is also the ambassador for Adidas, will push the limits of what elite athletes can do by completing a full Ironman challenge every day for 30 days.
“Starting on October 28 at 5am at Kite Beach, I am going to swim 3.8 kilometres, cycle 180 kilometres, and then run a marathon for 42 kilometres every single day for 30 days,” he said in a statement.
As per reports, the Adidas ambassador, embarked on a quest to swim a gruelling 3.8 Kilometres. It was followed by a 180-kilometre cycling journey, topped with a full marathon spanning 42 kilometres. Remarkably, he will repeat this difficult routine every single day for a month. This will result in an astonishing 226 Kilometres of physical grind daily.
If he succeeds, he will reportedly become only the third person in the world to complete this gruelling feat.
The extraordinary challenge is not only for personal achievement for Ghani. He said he is doing it to raise funds for the Heroes of Hope charity organisation through Al Jalila Foundation.
Starting his day at 5 am, swimming in the sea for 4-5 hours, then cycling for as long as 8-10 hours, and running for 4-5 hours within Dubai, where he will have a break for food in between cycling and running, the man is bound to take challenges.
This is not that new terrain for Ghani. He has been doing this Ironman challenge for four years now. He has also completed ultramarathons from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and many more towns in the country.
While expressing his love for the city and fitness, Ghani said, “Let’s show the world that Dubai isn’t just about buildings, luxury and cars. The city is also about people integrating fitness as a part of their daily routine and that’s what makes the difference.”
