The “Flying into Tomorrow” Initiative

These ambitious endeavors, set to be inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan, mark a significant milestone in CIAL’s quest for growth and sustainability.
A Green Revolution: Solar-Powered Excellence
CIAL has earned its place in history as the world’s first airport fully powered by solar energy. With this environmental commitment as a backdrop, the airport is now ready to take a leap forward. These seven projects, collectively known as “Flying into Tomorrow,” are designed to elevate the airport’s status and redefine its role in India’s aviation landscape.
Inauguration Highlights
– Cargo Terminal: The inauguration of a state-of-the-art import cargo terminal promises to catapult Southern India into a dominant cargo hub. This facility will enhance CIAL’s cargo capacity to an impressive 2 lakh tonnes, opening up opportunities for government initiatives and boosting the export of state farm produce.
– DigiYatra: CIAL’s innovative DigiYatra system aims to revolutionize the passenger experience by providing a seamless and paperless entry process. Developed in-house by CIAL’s IT & Communication department, this cutting-edge face recognition technology will significantly reduce wait times at the airport.
– Airport Emergency Services (AES): CIAL is transforming its Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Force (ARFF) into a sophisticated AES. The induction of modern Austrian-made fire tenders and utility vehicles ensures the airport’s preparedness for any emergency.
– Terminal 3 Expansion: With a new apron and terminal expansion, CIAL is set to increase its aircraft parking bays to 44, incorporating 8 additional aerobridges. This expansion will be a cornerstone of the airport’s ability to handle growing passenger traffic.
– 0484 Luxury Aero Lounge: CIAL is constructing the country’s largest airport lounge facility, named the “0484 Luxury Aero Lounge.” Covering 50,000 square feet, this facility offers a seamless transition between International, Domestic, and Business Jet Terminals, enhancing the overall passenger experience.
– Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS): Security is a top priority for CIAL. The PIDS project aims to bolster electronic surveillance around the airport, covering 12 km of the perimeter wall with advanced technology to detect unauthorized entries in real-time.
– Golf Tourism: CIAL is venturing into golf tourism, utilizing its 18-hole golf course to its full potential. This ambitious project includes the development of waterfront cottages, a conference hall, sporting facilities, and a motel, providing a unique hospitality experience.
A Vision for the Future
These projects represent CIAL’s commitment to not only elevate the passenger experience but also champion green energy initiatives. Managing Director S. Suhas IAS emphasizes that these endeavors signify a new era for CIAL, propelling it towards becoming one of the finest airports in India.
