Wholsum Foods, founded in 2015 and based in New Delhi, is a startup focused on offering healthy food options based on millets. The company was started by Meghana Narayan and Shauravi Malik, both of whom brought their expertise from previous professional roles. Meghana led the Public Health practice at McKinsey & Company, while Shauravi worked at J.P. Morgan in the liability management department.

The startup has two main brands under its umbrella: Slurrp Farm and Millé.

Slurrp Farm

This brand focuses on providing healthy food options for children. It offers products that incorporate supergrains like millets and plant proteins from legumes. Slurrp Farm has gained popularity and is considered a nearly Rs 100 Cr (approximately $13 million) brand.

Millé

Millé is Wholsum Foods’ recent venture launched in June. This brand is aimed at adults and is inspired by an observation made during the Covid-19 lockdown. The startup’s customer service team noticed that young adults were consuming Slurrp Farm’s products, recommended by their gym instructors. This led to the creation of Millé, which caters to adult nutritional needs while retaining the millet-based principles. Millé’s products offer high protein, low carbs, minimal sugar, and mostly gluten-free options. Their range includes items like buckwheat millet cereal, various millet pancake flavors, millet cake and brownie mixes, and wholegrain foxtail millet as a rice substitute. They also plan to introduce pasta and noodle mixes.

Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma, who has invested in Wholsum Foods, launched Millé in 2023. She expressed her enthusiasm for the brand’s focus on providing nutritious options using ancient supergrains like millets. Anushka Sharma mentioned that Millé’s products offer a combination of high plant protein and fiber, contributing to the “millet movement” that aims to bring climate-friendly supergrains back into the mainstream of modern diets.

Wholsum Foods’ journey from offering healthy food options for children through Slurrp Farm to catering to adults with Millé showcases their commitment to providing nutritious and sustainable food choices.
