Fresh Look
Reports suggest that the iconic Vande Bharat Express trains are undergoing a makeover with their new orange-colored exteriors. These upgraded trains are all set to debut on August 19th from the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, showcasing a vibrant change in appearance.
Enhanced Comfort and Features
The revamped Vande Bharat Express trains are designed to offer passengers an improved travel experience. With eight coaches, the trains will feature comfortable reclining seats, extended footrests for Executive Chair class coaches, and better access to mobile charging points. Additionally, technical upgrades include enhanced basins to prevent water splashes and better toilet lighting. Passengers will also have access to touch-sensitive reading lamps and advanced roller blind fabric.
Accessibility and Safety Improvements
The new Vande Bharat Express is not only focused on comfort but also on catering to passengers with special needs. The trains are equipped with fixing points to secure wheelchairs in driving trailer coaches, ensuring better accessibility. An anti-climbing device has also been incorporated to enhance safety measures.
Symbolic Tricolor Influence
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned in July that the 28th rake of Vande Bharat Express will sport a “saffron” color, inspired by the Indian Tricolor. This change highlights the train’s patriotic essence and showcases India’s cultural pride.
Trailblazing Journey
The Vande Bharat Express project began in mid-2017, and the first train set was completed within 18 months by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. Initially known as Train-18, this indigenous semi-high-speed train was renamed Vande Bharat Express in January 2019, emphasizing its ‘Made in India’ status. These trains have become a symbol of technological advancement and innovation in Indian rail travel.
