Celekt Mobiles, a leading mobile retail chain, has introduced an initiative called ‘Mission E-waste’ with the objective of addressing the issue of electronic waste in India. The initiative involves the placement of dedicated e-waste bins in every Celekt Mobiles store, providing customers with a responsible way to dispose of old and non-functional mobiles, laptops, tablets, and other electronic devices.

Benefits for Responsible Disposal

Customers who participate in this environmentally conscious action will be rewarded with discount coupons, ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000, which can be redeemed for up to six months on new purchases from Celekt Mobiles stores. This serves as an incentive to encourage proper disposal and promotes a sustainable approach to handling electronic waste.

Inauguration and Endorsement

The ‘Mission E-waste’ initiative was inaugurated by Telangana Minister for IT and Industries, K T Rama Rao, who expressed concern about the common practice of retaining unused or malfunctioning electronic devices instead of disposing of them responsibly. He praised Celekt Mobiles for taking this step and recognized the significance of their efforts in addressing the growing e-waste crisis.

Collaboration for Responsible E-waste Management

Celekt Mobiles has partnered with three e-waste disposal companies to ensure that the collected electronic waste is treated with the utmost care, minimizing its adverse impact on the environment. The company is committed to extending the reach of e-waste bins beyond their stores, targeting residential areas, educational institutions, places of worship, and other essential establishments. Additionally, Celekt Mobiles plans to introduce kiosks in public spaces to make responsible e-waste disposal more accessible.

A Commitment to the Environment

Celekt Mobiles Chairman and Managing Director, Y Guru, emphasized that ‘Mission E-waste’ is not just an initiative but a heartfelt tribute and a commitment to safeguard the environment that sustains us. By encouraging responsible disposal of electronic waste, Celekt Mobiles is contributing to the protection of the environment and promoting a more sustainable future.
