The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has witnessed numerous entrepreneurial success stories, but a lack of female representation has been a prevailing issue. However, Neha Singh, the topper of IIT Bombay, defied the odds and shattered the glass ceiling by establishing her own multi-crore startup. Today, her company, Tracxn, not only boasts a substantial valuation but also enjoys backing from prominent investors such as Ratan Tata.

A Trailblazing Journey:

Neha Singh, an exceptional entrepreneur and IIT Bombay alumnus, serves as the Chairman and founder of Tracxn, an online data tracking company. Despite starting with limited capital, her visionary venture has secured support from industry stalwarts like Ratan Tata, as well as the founders of Flipkart, Sachin and Binny Bansal.

The Entrepreneurial Urge:

After graduating from IIT Bombay and completing her education at Leland Stanford Business University, Neha Singh secured a lucrative position at analytics firm Sequoia Capital India. However, her entrepreneurial spirit continuously tugged at her, compelling her to pursue her own business venture.

Tracxn: Empowering Decision-Makers:

Founded in 2013 by Neha Singh and her husband, Abhishek Goyal, Tracxn is a research firm that provides global company data for venture capitalists and corporate development offices. Transforming her idea into a reality, Singh embarked on a journey to bridge the information gap and empower decision-makers with valuable insights.

Overcoming Early Challenges:

In the early stages, Tracxn faced significant hurdles, including minimal revenue and financial uncertainty. Neha Singh endured over a year without a salary, persistently navigating the challenges that accompany building a startup from the ground up. However, her innovative idea and astute business acumen caught the attention of one of India’s most prominent businessmen—Ratan Tata.

Support from Titans of Industry:

Ratan Tata made an undisclosed investment in Neha Singh’s Tracxn, providing the much-needed boost to propel the business forward. In addition to Tata, other notable investors included Flipkart founders Sachin and Binny Bansal, Sahil Barua of Delhivery, Mohandas Pai, and Nandan Nilekani.

Scaling New Heights:

After a decade of relentless effort, Neha Singh and her husband transformed Tracxn into a multi-crore company, reporting revenues of Rs 100 crore in 2022. While the exact net worth of Neha Singh remains undisclosed, her total assets are estimated to be worth Rs 24.62 crore.

Neha Singh’s inspiring journey from an IIT Bombay topper to a successful entrepreneur demonstrates the remarkable potential of women in the startup ecosystem. With her tenacity, innovative mindset, and support from industry leaders like Ratan Tata, Singh has not only shattered barriers but also built a thriving multi-crore startup that continues to make waves in the business world.
