Google announced the availability of numerous new features for its Google Maps app in a blog post on Wednesday. Google gave information on a few of these features:
Easily readable directions
With this function, users may check the status of their route without having to unlock their phone. From the lock screen or the route overview, users will be able to monitor the status of their journey. Users will be able to keep track of future turns and updated expected arrival times (ETAs) thanks to this functionality. Prior to now, only full navigation mode could access this data. If a user chooses a different route, Google will automatically update the trip. This month, Glanceable Directions will be gradually made available throughout the world for walking, cycling and driving modes on both Android and iOS devices.
Recents updates
Even when users close the Google Maps application, Google will continue to keep locations in their recent highlights. With the help of this functionality, users will be able to take breaks from vacation preparations and pick up where they left off without losing any ground.
According to Christina Tong, a senior product manager at Google Maps, users have the option to delete locations they have already visited, plan multiple trips at once, and share a selection of locations — including hotels or attractions — with their travelling companions to obtain their advice. Users can select the destinations they want to visit, and Google Maps will then generate a custom route that incorporates all of the selected stops. Users can select three or more locations on the map at their discretion. The saved route for this will be the user’s recent section.
Immersive View
Immersive View combines a large number of photos using AI to produce a multidimensional perspective of numerous locales with trustworthy information on top.
Amsterdam, Dublin, Florence, and Venice are the four new places where Google has launched Immersive View. Additionally, the IT giant is extending this service to more than 500 well-known landmarks around the world. The time slider allows users to view the weather forecast for various times throughout the day.
