The purchase of 1,035 units of 5/7.5 Tonne Radio Relay Communication equipment containers was the subject of a contract signed by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and ICOMM Tele, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) stated on Thursday. The contract, which falls under the “Buy (Indian) Category,” has a value of about 500 crore, it added. Planned to start in the current fiscal year 2023–24.
“The Radio Relay Containers will take care of a long overdue need of the Indian Army’s mobile communication detachments. These containers will be used to create a safe space where communication equipment may fail safely and dependably, it was claimed.
The containers would be driven in accordance with operational needs while mounted on authorised specialised trucks.
“The company would make the containers using only machinery and supporting systems from domestic suppliers. This will encourage the business sector to actively participate in achieving the vision of Aatmnirbhar Bharat and further strengthen domestic defence equipment production, according to the ministry.
The addition of such cutting-edge equipment will also aid in growing exports to friendly nations.
