Soon, Noida International Airport in Jewar and the Film City will be connected by India’s first Pod Taxi, also known as the Personalized Rapid Transit. The Yamuna Authority has reportedly approved the updated DPR & Bid document for India’s FIRST Pod Taxi project, according to The Uttar Pradesh Index. Soon after the project has received government approval, construction work will begin. As also, the tendering procedure is anticipated to begin soon.
What’s the Pod Taxi all about?
Electric vehicles with driverless technology are known as Pod Taxis. These are compact, automated vehicles used to move a limited number of people quickly from one location to another. These cars are electrically propelled and move along a track. Of course, these tracks are constructed separately on roadways to avoid the typical traffic. Uttar Pradesh is definitely going to be the first state to get this international transit system which already exists in Dubai, Singapore, and Heathrow Airport in London among other places. The Pod Taxis will connect Noida’s Jewar airport to Film City in sector 21. As per early estimates, around 37,000 passengers will be able to commute on a daily basis in these new-age Pod Taxis.
According to numerous media accounts, the line will be 12–14 kilometres long, with 12 stations. These stations reportedly include Sector 21, Sector 32, Sector 33, Toy Park, Sector 21, Sector 29, Handicraft Park, and MSME Park in Sector 29, Apparel Park, and Sector 29. Estimated Building Cost and Completion Date
The project is expected to cost Rs.810 crore. The UP Index predicts that the Pod Taxi project will likely be finished by the end of 2024 after receiving final government permission.
It goes without saying that these vehicles will benefit the environment if Uttar Pradesh is effective in operating them. These Pod Taxis won’t just be affordable; they’ll also be practical and environmentally sustainable.
