Visa Launches CVV-Free Tokenized Transactions in India

Visa introduces CVV-free tokenization for faster, safer transactions in India

Visa introduces CVV-free tokenization for faster, safer transactions in India.

Visa, a leader in electronic payments, has developed a ground-breaking method to streamline and secure online transactions. In accordance with the criteria set forth by the Reserve Bank of India, the business has introduced CVV-free tokenized transactions for domestic payments in India. This change will streamline online transactions for Visa cardholders, making them faster and more secure. Visa is paving the way for a simple and safe online payment process for its consumers by being the first payment network to implement this capability.  A three- or four-digit number called the CVV, or card verification value, can be found on the back of a physical debit or credit card. To confirm that the transaction is being made by a real person, it is employed as an additional security step. When making an online transaction, the user is typically asked to enter the CVV along with the card number and expiration date. CVV-free tokenisation allows customers to make online transactions without the need to enter their CVV every time.

When a card is tokenized, the CVV is gathered during the first token provisioning; however, retailers and acquirers are free to stop collecting CVV for ensuing domestic CNP token transactions. With tokenization, a customer’s card information is replaced with a special code called a token. Because businesses just save the token and not the card details, transactions are more secure as a result.

Customers can conduct online purchases with more security thanks to the token’s two-factor authentication, which occurs both at the time of tokenization and again when entering the OTP. Customers must make sure that their cards are tokenized in order to use CVV-free tokenization cards.

For domestic online transactions starting with tokenized credentials, merchants who employ tokenization for Visa card transactions are no longer required to collect the CVV. Customers can simply use their tokenised card details for online transactions without worrying about entering their CVV. CVV-free tokenisation makes domestic card-not-present (CNP) tokenised transactions faster, and safer. Customers can enjoy a positive and smooth payment experience without the need to enter their CVV every time.
