The first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold, will be unveiled by tech giant Google on May 10 at the Google I/O 2023 event. Google hasn’t disclosed the device’s specifications, according to the American technology news website The Verge, but a brief teaser video demonstrates a full-size outside display on a phone that opens up akin to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold smartphones.
According to leaked marketing materials and even a hands-on video, the camera bar on the back is comparable to that on earlier Pixel devices but doesn’t protrude as far. The smartphone’s development has long been speculated about, but it has now been officially verified. Google posted an image and a video of the upcoming smartphone which they captioned, “May the Fold Be with you.” Soon after the tech giant shared the video, fans swamped the comment section with fire emoticons and also shared their excitement.
“Seems you got a winner here,” one user commented. “I’m getting it,” another person remarked. “Wow, it looks absolutely stunning.” The device appears to be large and has the same horizontal camera bar on the back as the Pixel 7 Pro in the video. Three camera cut-outs, most likely for wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto sensors, are also present on the camera.
