Citroen India has unveiled it’s all new mid-size SUV C3 Aircross in their Global premier event in Delhi on 27th April. This 4.3 meter SUV comes in 5-seater and 5+2 seat options. C3 Aircross will be produced locally at Thiruvallur, India with around 90% local integration. The car is expected to go on sale in India in the second half of 2023. Citroen has delivered on its promise of launching one new car every year in India with its signature comfort, features and equipment to meet the specific needs of local customers.
The 4.3 SUV model and the already launched brand’s flagship C5 Aircross SUV, sub 4m New C3 & ë-C3 represents major achievements in Citroën’s international growth strategy, under which the brand is targeting 30 percent of its global vehicle sales to be in regions and markets outside of Europe by 2025. The car is expressive in design that inspires confidence. It features an assertive front face with a high bonnet, wide track width, a Y-shaped lighting signature that represents Citroen’s usual design language and a powerful double grille with a lower skid plate to deal with varying road conditions and maximise cooling. With the ground clearance of 200mm, 17-inch alloy wheels, muscular wheel arches and resilient protective claddings, this SUV stands out from all angles.
The wide C-pillar adds verticality and strength to the body, while neat rear quarter windows add to the feeling of light and space for passengers. Windows and long rear doors enhance the feeling of height, light and visibility, and allow easy access to the rear rows of seats. Citroen customers are provided with the option to customise their C3 Aircross by choosing from a wide range of themed packs and accessories. Citroen has also availed its signature contrasting roof colours for the c3 Aircross. Citroen’s specially tuned suspension setup adds to the car’s agility in performance, handling and ride comfort. The suspension is adaptive to both urban roads as well as rough terrains offering the passengers a body-roll free ride. The underbody structure and approach angles have been engineered to ensure maximum capability to tackle rough road surfaces with ease and climb up or down steep slopes. The steering is specially engineered to offer mCitroën-tuned steering and turning circle for enhanced agility and easy manoeuvring in dense urban traffic.
The 5-seater model offers one of the best knee room for rear seat passengers and up to 444-litres of luggage volume, while the 5+2-seater model adds intelligent modularity for multiple uses, with a third row of two individual seats. These can be folded down or removed individually when the family needs to balance the room for passengers with up to 511-litres capacity for luggage.
The bright, spacious and smartphone-friendly interior is extremely well equipped, and embodies Citroën’s acknowledged 360-degree approach to comfort and occupant well-being. Highly comfortable seats combine with a powerful climate and air-conditioning system to keep everyone relaxed, particularly in the second and third rows of the 5+2-seater version thanks to a roof mounted blower. Thoughtful storage solutions throughout include cup holders that double as smartphone holders in the second and third rows.
The new C3 Aircross is stunning and bold on the outside but the interiors do not feel much luxurious except for the seats, which are premium in terms of looks as well as comfort. There’s no doubt this car will offer a tight competition to its rivals like Creta, Seltos etc. if priced right.
