Lexus introduces the fifth-gen RX hybrid SUV in India: Lexus RX
The new RX Hybrid SUV from Lexus has been introduced in India, with pricing ranging from 95.80 lakh for the RX350h Luxury variation to 1.18 crore for the more powerful RX500h F-Sport+ model (both prices, ex-showroom, India). At the 2023 Auto Expo in India, the Lexus RX was presented. The RX is priced reasonably by Lexus; the company’s prior models were more expensive than those of its competitors, which is why the launch of the vehicle in India was delayed.
There are two different powerplant options available for the 2019 Lexus RX. The first is the RX350h Luxury, which has a 2.5-liter gasoline engine coupled to a CVT and produces 250 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque when combined with the electric motor. It is equipped with an all-wheel drive system as standard capable of doing 0-100kph in a claimed 7.9 seconds, with a claimed top speed of 200kph.
The 2.4-litre turbo-petrol engine of the RX500h F-Sport+ is mated to a 6-speed automated transmission. Together with the e-motor, it generates 371 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque. The RX500h has a claimed 0-100kph time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 210kph with all-wheel drive as standard. The new RX from Lexus has a bipolar nickel-metal hydride battery; the RX350h’s battery has 259.2V, while the RX500h’s battery has 288V.
The new RX mimics the spindle body’ look of the new RZ electric SUV and utilises Lexus’ Alluring X Verve design language. The F-Sport body kit, which differs visually from the base model, is available for the RX500h. The F-Sport has piano black accents outside where the latter has chrome accents.
The RX has dimensions of 4,890mm in length, 1,920mm in width, 1,650mm in height, and a 2,850mm wheelbase. The new RX is identical in length and height to the previous model, but it is now 25mm wider and has a 60mm larger wheelbase.
For the fifth-generation RX, Lexus has included its Tazuna (Japanese for rein) concept, which it describes as “human-centric” with a goal to link the driver to the road for improved attention.
The RX has a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display, a 14-inch touchscreen, a wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wired Android Auto. Black, Dark Sepia, and Solis White are the three interior colour options offered by Lexus. Sumi Woodgrain and Medium Bamboo Brown are the two trim options.
