Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the first AIIMS in North East to the nation in Guwahati. The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various projects worth Rs 3,400 crore on Friday. AIIMS Guwahati and three other medical colleges will be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute.
The ‘Aapke Dwar Ayushman’ campaign will also be launched by distributing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to deserving beneficiaries.
Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of Guwahati AIIMS in 2017. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences has been built at a cost of Rs 1,120 crore. The hospital has state-of-the-art facilities and has 750 beds including 30 AYUSH beds. Aiming to provide world-class healthcare facilities to the people of the Northeast, the hospital will have a capacity to accommodate 100 MBBS students per year.
“AIIMS in Guwahati will enhance Assam’s health infrastructure and help the entire North Eastern state. Quality healthcare will be more accessible,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate three medical colleges namely Nalbari Medical College, Nagaon Medical College and Kokrajhar Medical College which were built at a cost of Rs 615 crore, Rs 600 crore and Rs 535 crore respectively. Each of these medical colleges has 500 bedded teaching hospitals with OPD/IPD services, including emergency services, ICU facilities, OT and diagnostic facilities etc.
The Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute is being built at a cost of Rs 546 crore. AAHII will facilitate cutting-edge innovations and research and development in medicine and healthcare.
