The first two models of electric two-wheelers are anticipated to enter the market in the upcoming fiscal year, according to a statement released on Wednesday by HONDA MOTORCYCLE & Scooter India. The company is establishing a dedicated section at its Narsapura plant in Karnataka to produce these vehicles.
By 2030, the company hopes to reach a production capacity of 10 lakh electrified automobiles yearly.
“Our goal is to create India’s greatest EV business structure as the country’s interest in electric transportation grows. We are developing a separate facility in Narasapura to meet our EV business requirements, “Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President, and CEO of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), told reporters.
He said, “Main components, including battery and other important components, such PCU, would be produced in-house in accordance with the Government’s directive of Make in India and the focus on localization.”
According to Ogata, the motor will also be created and produced domestically. By 2030, we want to produce one million electric vehicles annually in Narsapura, he declared. HMSI intends to deliver a variety of EV vehicles with fixed and swappable batteries on a dedicated platform.
Ogata stated that the business will develop charging stations and employ battery swapping using its current sales network, which now has about 6,000 touchpoints.
HMSI also intends to take advantage of the ecosystem as a whole, including battery-swapping facilities at gas stations, metro stations, and other sites, to provide EV drivers practical battery-swapping options.
According to Ogata, Honda will continue to increase the efficiency of ICE engines with the introduction of flex-fuel engines and follow Government guidance for alternative fuels while expanding electrification of models and ecosystem. The company’s global direction is to increase electric vehicle and fuel cell vehicle unit sales ratio to 100% by 2040.
