Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries’ chairman and Asia’s richest man, is constantly growing his firm. He inked an agreement to enter the cola business last year and made a bold debut soon after Holi by announcing the introduction of three varieties of Campa Cola, Reliance’s most recognised brand of the 1970s. Following this, a price war sprang out in the Cola market, and other firms began lowering the cost of their products.
Campa Cola : Looking Back
Reliance Consumer Products purchased Campa Cola from Pure Drink Group in 2022 for Rs 22 crore. After this agreement, there was a plan to market the product on Diwali initially, but it was later extended until Holi 2023. Campa Cola, a 50-year-old popular beverage brand, was recently released in Orange, Lemon, and Cola flavors. Its immediate competitors include Pepsi, Coca-Cola, and Sprite, which are already on the market.
Coca Cola Price Decrease
After the release of three varieties of Campa Cola, pressure has begun to mount on other corporations that dominate the Cola industry. Furthermore, due to rising temperatures and increased demand for soft drinks, Coca-Cola has chosen to lower product pricing, particularly in areas with the lowest supply levels. According to Business Standard, the price of a 200ML bottle has been decreased by Rs 5.
Price Decrease in various Areas
According to the article, after the Coca-Cola company’s decision to lower the price, the 200 ML bottle, which previously cost Rs 15 in states like Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, is now priced at Rs 10. In addition, the crate deposit paid by shops to retain Coca-Cola glass bottles has been waived, which typically varies between Rs 50 and Rs 100.
Campa Cola Back with a Bang
Notably, Campa Cola is India’s unique sparkling beverage brand. From 1949 till the early 1970s, Pure Drink Group was the exclusive distributor of Coca-Cola in India. Once Coca-Cola left the nation, Pure Drinks established its own brand Campa Cola, which quickly became the leading brand in this industry. Its motto, “The Great Indian Taste,” was popular at the time and has since made a significant comeback.
