With the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, Ola Electric has grown to be one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of electric vehicles (EVs).
The company has experienced its fair share of problems, including complaints from customers about quality control problems and scooters that allegedly caught fire. The front fork suspension, however, is one of the major concerns with the scooter.
The first incident involving its front fork arm was in April 2022, when an Ola S1 Pro’s front suspension broke after colliding with another bike. Since then, the scooter’s front suspension has come up in a number of reports.
The Ola S1 Pro rider suffered injuries in January 2023 when the front suspension of the vehicle failed. Ola Electric had then stated that it was caused by a “very high impact road collision.”
According to the company, its front fork is secure and was engineered to maintain a safety factor more than 80% of the normal weight seen on automobiles.
In an unexpected turn of events, Ola Electric has recently revealed that it is providing Ola S1 and S1 Pro customers with a free “upgrade” of the front fork. The company claimed in its statement that it has increased the strength and durability of the front fork design by upgrading it.
Concerns about the safety of its front fork arm are still seen by the business as “unfounded.”
A company representative verified to Business Insider India that “all Ola clients” are qualified for the free upgrade after the company sold over 200,000 scooters thus far.
Even though the company hasn’t called this a recall, this “update” involves one of the most by any Indian two-wheeler company. In 2021, Royal Enfield had recalled more than 2.36 lakh electric scooters to repair a faulty ignition coil.
