The Indian Space Research Organisation has devised an educational campaign for youngsters in an effort to “catch them young” and motivate more students to pursue careers in STEM-related fields of study or research. ISRO runs this programme to teach younger children about space technology, science, and applications.
ISRO YUVIKA Program:
The ISRO YUVIKA 2023 initiative, also known as the “Young Scientist Program,” is particularly developed for school-age children interested in the latest breakthroughs in space science and technology. Former ISRO chairman K Sivan announced the YUVIKA program on January 18, 2019, and it was officially started four months later on May 17, 2019. At the start of the program, Sivan remarked that “the program was designed to develop and encourage space research enthusiasm in young minds. Pupils from rural areas will be given precedence in the selection process.
Information regarding Centres:
The programme will be carried out at seven ISRO facilities: the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, which specialises in the production and development of rockets and rocket parts, the U R Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, where satellites are developed, the Space Application Centre in Ahmedabad, which specialises in the development of payloads for satellites, the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, from which rockets are launched, and the National Remote Sen Throughout the course, Isro will cover students’ travel fees, course materials, hotel, and boarding.
All you need to know:
Registration: As part of the registration procedure, students must register online at isro.gov.in/YUVIKA. This procedure will be carried out as scheduled between March 20 and April 30, 2023.
Criteria for eligibility: ISRO YUVIKA 2023 candidates must be Indian students in Class 9 as of January 1, 2023.
The first selection list will be announced on April 10, 2023, with the second list following 10 days later on April 20, 2023 (due to vacancies/non-confirmation in the first selection list).
Reporting: Selected students must report to their respective ISRO centres on May 14, 2023, or as otherwise advised by ISRO via the student’s registered email address.
Send-off: May 27, 2023, send-off for selected students from separate centres.

- You will be directed to a new page.
- Sign up and fill out the application form.
- Submit the form and print a copy for future reference.
“Expenditure towards just the journey of selected student (II AC train price or AC (including Volvo) bus fare by State Government or approved transport from nearby Railway Station/ Bus terminal to the reporting centre and return). For recovery of travel expenses from the respective ISRO centre, students must present their original ticket of travel. If the student has not taken the II AC train (II AC class), the maximum reimbursement of fare will be limited to II AC train fare only.
