Namma Yatri, the auto rickshaw booking smartphone application, is seeking public engagement to help it match the service and user experience provided by digital firms such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido. Juspay Technologies is looking for coders, politicians, and other stakeholders to help improve the product it created for Bengaluru’s Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union (ARDU). The open mobility project’s software, data, analytics, and future plans are all available to the public.
Vimal Kumar, CEO and creator of Juspay, which is developing the Namma Yatri app, stated that the system is open for general participation as the team wants to invite the people of Bengaluru to join the effort. The firm has worked on open network initiatives such as the BHIM Unified Payment Interface app.

Kumar said this at a news conference held along with ARDU. He stated that the app has been under development for over three years and that it has completed over 4,30,000 journeys and on boarded over 43,000 drivers. According to him, about 400,000 consumers have downloaded the app. Every day, the app facilitates around 12,000 travels.
Though the app is now live, Kumar says that it is still a work in progress, with enhancements needed in areas such as mapping, pricing, and cancellations.
Namma Yatri will have a dedicated channel on messaging services like Slack where volunteers may provide comments. According to Kumar, the network does not charge any commission to drivers or consumers, but it will charge a membership fee to drivers in the future, He added that the price will assist maintain and administer the network as well as cover expenditures like map and server costs.
The app is created utilizing the Beckn Protocol, a common software protocol that has been used to build networks such as UPI and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). Kumar told ET that after sufficient enhancements are achieved, the network would be available on key online markets like PhonePe and ride-hailing applications. Last year, certain internet businesses, like Paytm, have also connected their apps with the government’s e-commerce network ONDC.
