The Kingdom of Bahrain introduced the Bahrain Electronic Passport.
The action is a part of the “digitisation activities outlined in the overall sector development strategies, which were launched with the Kingdom’s comprehensive Economic Recovery Plan,” the Bahraini government said in an email.
The new e-passport has a security chip that stores the passport holder’s biometric data.
According to the statement, it also has a creative design that highlights the culture and heritage of the Kingdom.
The Minister added that the e-passport will speed up airport transit and includes special security features and requirements that will improve the categorization of the Bahraini passport and ease processes for obtaining visas from various countries and being exempt from visa requirements.
Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Interior Ministry’s Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA), made this announcement during a news conference.
The creation of the e-Passport, according to Sheikh Hisham, demonstrates the Kingdom’s engagement in the digital transition, as the new design incorporates cutting-edge security features for the first time.
General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, said during a press conference for the introduction of the e-passport that this new innovation will make it simpler and more secure for citizens to travel throughout the world.
