Hero and Zero join hands to build premium Electric Motorcycles
On Monday, Hero MotoCorp announced a collaboration agreement with US-based Zero Motorcycles to develop luxury electric bikes. The relationship combines Zero’s experience in designing powertrains and electric bikes with Hero MotoCorp’s size of production, procurement, and marketing, according to the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer. Hero MotoCorp’s board of directors authorized a $60 million equity investment in Zero Motorcycles, a prominent leader in electric bikes and powertrains, in September 2022.
Pawan Munjal, Chairman and CEO of Hero MotoCorp, said that the collaboration with Zero Motorcycles marks an important step in the mission to usher in an age of sustainable clean mobility technologies. He added that the team is excited to accelerate the transition to electric mobility in India and throughout the worldwide markets with Zero as a partner. The VIDA V1 scooter is the company’s first attempt into the electric scooter market. In addition, Hero MotoCorp has begun operations of its public charging infrastructure in Bangalore, Delhi, and Jaipur. It has already installed approximately 300 public charging stations across the three cities. The firms are devoted to improving the riding experience and offering outstanding, new goods to the globe, according to Zero Motorcycles CEO Sam Paschel.
