NASSCOM expands its Launchpad programme in Canada to assist growth of Indian IT start-ups.
NASSCOM, the trade group for the Indian technology industry, has announced the extension of its Launchpad programme in Canada through a partnership with Invest Alberta. It is present in the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, as well as the city of Brampton.
According to the business, this initiative is part of NASSCOM’s continuing strategic collaboration with the Canadian government, which aims to encourage partnerships between the Indian and Canadian technology ecosystems and boost technology-based foreign direct investment between the two countries.
Rent-free office space for up to 6 months, customised services such as assisting with strategic stakeholder connections and engagement, navigating government regulations and incentives, and assisting with site selection to establish permanent operations in the region are among the program’s key features. It is intended to create an opportunity for Indian technology businesses to enter and develop into the North American market.
NASSCOM said that the Launchpad’s primary goal will be to create a platform for its member firms to use as a home base for exploring commercial prospects in North America. As part of the program, it is expected that an initial set of around 20 companies will create over 200 jobs within four years in Canada.
This is NASSCOM’s first project in Canada. The initiative will be launched in Canada in collaboration with the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, as well as the city of Brampton. NASSCOM stated that the launchpad will assist in fostering cross-border commerce and enabling Indian technology enterprises with the opportunity to successfully land and develop into the North American market.
