Sikka Art and Design Festival takes over alleyways of Dubai’s Al Fahidi district
For the eleventh time, the Sikka Art and Design Festival is taking over Dubai’s Al Fahidi District, saturating the small lanes with artwork at every turn. The festival brings together visual artists, performers, designers, musicians, and other creatives to showcase artworks, concerts, murals, poetry readings, and film screenings. It is named after the passages between low-rise structures in the old neighborhood next to the Dubai Creek. Outside artwork works and colorful chairs in front of the main stage and in the courtyards contribute to the neighborhood’s vibrancy. The event’s theme this year is “New creativity. Same Path,” and it will feature a wide range of creative exhibitions and artwork on display through March 5.
Several young, talented artists have the opportunity to showcase their abilities at the art and design festival.
Sikka will have its own Talli House for the first time. It is devoted to showcasing artworks that draw inspiration from the Al Talli skill, which the UAE was able to add to the UNESCO list of intangible cultural treasures.
A number of well-known photographers’ works, including those by Noora Al Neyadi, Shoug Abdulla, Zayed Ebrahim AlHaddar, Waleed Al Madani, and Mohamed Almaazmi, have been exhibited at the Photography House.
The festival features a special programme with more than 100 panels, workshops, and speeches delivered by a number of well-known artists, including Firas Saffieddine, Dr. Georges Kachaamy, Tala Al Nounou, Lina Younes, and others.
