Zomato, a food delivery platform, announced on Wednesday the launch of an ‘Everyday’, home-style meal service in which its food partners will collaborate with home chefs. Founder Deepinder Goyal announced in a blog-post that Zomato Everyday will bring people closer to home feeling by serving meals that make them feel at home. He also added that their food partners collaborate with home-chefs, who design each recipe with love and care to serve home-styled, wholesome food at the best prices within minutes. Zomato Every day is currently available in select areas of Gurugram only, with fresh meals starting at only Rs 89.
Everyday has been positioned among other platform services like Intercity Legends, the company’s intercity meal delivery service, and Healthy, which caters to health-conscious customers, on the Zomato app.
The Zomato-identified chefs will work under contract with the business and solely create meals for its clients on its premises. Zomato Everyday will initially only be accessible in a few places in Gurugram, and it will only accept orders for breakfast and lunch between the hours of 8 am and 3:30 pm since dinner isn’t high on demand currently.
Zomato presently has at least five home cooks, and after they pass rigorous taste testing and satisfy the required taste threshold, more will be added. Zomato will also let consumers choose the chefs they want cuisine from and explore a personalised Daily menu in order to preserve regularity. Deliveries for orders placed on Daily take roughly 30-35 minutes.
According to Zomato, this is a significant opportunity in a market like India that is currently underserved. Similar services are currently being offered by some other Startups also like Cookr, FoodCloud and HomeFoodi, in limited areas.
