Exogio- a Canadian space company fulfils the dream of blind students of Kerala by launching self made rockets
Thiruvananthapuram: 'Teacher, how will you feel if you see this rocket..?'
Four months ago, the children of Vazhuthacaud Government school for the Visually Impaired used to ask eagerly. They dreamed of the sky with their inner eye and today they have made history by launching their own made rocket.
Four months ago, Athira Preetharani, the CEO of Exogeo Company, came to Thiruvananthapuram to inculcate the scientific taste in children. Athira Preetha Rani took classes for the children of VazhuthacaudGovernment school for the Visually Impaired. The children asked excitedly about space and rockets that day. After the class was over, she promised to teach the children how to build a rocket. Athira flew from Canada to the capital when the money for the expenses and the materials for the rocket were ready. She first taught them the theory of rocket science. Made them touch various parts and explained their use. Last week the parts were assembled.
On that very day, these children made history by launching their rockets at the Thycaud police ground. It was a proud moment for the children and Athira Preetha Rani. Thus the mission of Sparsh became a reality. Athira did the most basic design. The structure was very helpful for the visually impaired students.
