IndiGo and other Indian airlines are set to order around 1,200 aircraft, according to a report by the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation India (CAPA India). IndiGo has so far placed orders for 500 aircraft from Airbus alone. American Boeing is waiting for new orders from IndiGo and other Indian Airlines.

Indigo to partner with Turkish Airlines

Meanwhile, the country’s largest carrier IndiGo on Friday announced a partnership with Turkish Airlines to expand its operations in Europe. The airline said it will receive 500 additional aircraft already ordered from Airbus for this expansion

IndiGo currently operates 1,800 flights per day, 10 percent of which are operated on International routes. With more than 300 aircrafts currently serving 76 domestic and 26 International destinations, IndiGo can use these 500 new aircrafts to strengthen its International services.

IndiGo’s Head of International Sales Vinay Malhotra said the new expansion plan will help improve passenger services from India to Istanbul and Europe.

IndiGo’s European Aviation Plan is as follows.

IndiGo to fly from Istanbul to 27 European points

IndiGo’s 76 online points within India aim to take people across India to Delhi, Mumbai, Istanbul and then on to Europe.

IndiGo’s current International flights are centred around the Indian Subcontinent. The partnership with Turkish Airlines is a co-ship partnership that allows IndiGo to enter Europe. IndiGo will be able to carry passengers from India to Istanbul and from Istanbul to Europe through code ship partnerships.

“IndiGo has exactly 27 points in Europe including the UK, France, Italy, Ireland, Austria and Switzerland. These points have multiple frequencies with Turkish Airlines and partnering with them as a codeshare will make travel to Europe easier.

The Airbus Boeing ordered by Air India will start arriving by the end of 2023
