People can now send and receive various goods, including electronic devices, to 213
countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Gulf, through the
post office for a minimal fee.
The Postal Export Center (Dak Niriyat Kendra) began operations yesterday at
Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam and Kannur. All positions at the
centers are expected to be filled by the end of April, and office facilities will also be
made available to customers. The plan is being operated in association with Kochi
Customs.
Items that are not prohibited may be sent through the system. Upon arrival,
international goods are subject to customs inspection and duty payment. Similarly,
duty is payable in this scenario as well at the post office, by speed post or regular mail to
clear customs.
This eliminates the need for agents or middlemen and the goods can be obtained by
completing a one-time online registration at https://dnk.cept.gov.in/customers.web/.
All you need to do is login to the website and enter your username and password, mobile
number and your email address. Enter OTP being sent to your phone after which you
import/export codes, GST number and AD code for registration purposes.
